Vote for finalists of city bus art competition (through December 15)
Tom Tom Founders Festival, Charlottesville Area Transit, and JAUNT

Tom Tom Founders Festival, Charlottesville Area Transit, and JAUNT have opened the public voting process for finalists of the City Art Bus Competition. Public voting closes on Friday, December 15th at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be chosen from the 10 designs by combining the results of the public vote, votes from both CAT and JAUNT bus drivers, and a juried panel. All the designs will be featured in a public art installation this spring as part of the Tom Tom Founders Festival in CAT bus shelters throughout the city. Cville Parks' Holiday Craft Party this Saturday (through December 16)

Charlottesville Parks & Recreation will present a Holiday Craft Party on Saturday, December 16th, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Carver Recreation Center. Bring the family and spend the afternoon creating fun holiday crafts while meeting old and new friends at this free community event. Oratorio Society with "Christmas at the Paramount" (through December 16)
Oratorio Society of Virginia

The Oratorio Society of Virginia presents "Christmas at The Paramount" on Saturday, December 16th, at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. In this Charlottesville tradition and family favorite, music Director Michael Slon conducts a 90-person chorus composed of some of the community's finest singers. An accompaniment of brass, organ, and percussion rounds out the performance. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 434.979.1333, online at theparamount.net, or in person Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 215 East Main Street, Charlottesville.

Benefit concert for the Haven Day Shelter for the Homeless (through December 16)
The Southern

Local band Second Draw will hold a benefit concert for the Haven Day Shelter for the Homeless on Saturday, December 16th at the Southern Café and Music Hall in Charlottesville. All band proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Haven. The show starts at 8 p.m. and will feature opening guest Keith Morris and the Crooked Numbers. BRIMS Holiday Showcase (through December 17)
Blue Ridge Irish Music School
The Blue Ridge Irish Music School (BRIMS) Holiday Showcase takes place this Sunday, December the 17th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Haven.  BRIMS students, ages 5-adult, perform Irish music, dance and song at this free and festive family event.  The Haven is located at 112 W. VFH launches digital archive (through December 21)
Virginia Foundation for the Humanities

The Virginia Foundation for the Humanities has launched Discovery Virginia, a digital archive that contains more than 6,000 of the Foundation's preserved assets and projects since the organization's founding in 1974. The free digital archive is accessible to the public, allowing learners of all ages to easily access more than forty years’ worth of dynamic cultural and historical resources. Pop-up gift shop (through December 24)

Gift Forest, a pop-up shop featuring handmade, vintage, and vinyl from more than 75 area artists, designers, and collectors, will be open daily until Sunday, December 24th at the Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative, located at 209 Monticello Road in Charlottesville. Dates for 2018 Festival of the Book (through December 31)
Virginia Center for the Book

The Virginia Foundation for the Humanities and the Virginia Center for the Book come together each year to bring you the Virginia Festival of the Book. The next five-day program of mostly free events is March 21st through the 25th in Charlottesville and Albemarle County. It includes author readings, book signings, panel discussions, programs for children, and it's not too early to start planning your attendance. For details, go to VaBook.org. Prism Seeks Volunteers (through December 31)

The Prism Coffeehouse is seeking volunteers to help with their live acoustic music concert programming. As a fun & dedicated organization, the Prism can use help in all aspects of its organization, including staffing on the days of shows, sound production, fundraising, publicity, graphics, accommodations arrangement, volunteer coordination, & website management. Park for free downtown during the holidays (through January 01)
City of Charlottesville

The City of Charlottesville will provide free parking in the Market Street Parking Garage on weekends through Monday January, 1st. There will be no charge for downtown visitors to park in the garage starting at 5 p.m each Friday through Sunday each weekend. In addition, the metered spaces surrounding the downtown mall will also be available at no cost, seven days a week, during the same period. The two hour time restriction indicated on signage at these spaces will still apply. For more information, visit charlottesville.org.

Holiday dance (through January 27)
USA Dance - Charlottesville Chapter

The Charlottesville Chapter of USA Dance will host its New Year Showcase and Ballroom Dance on Saturday, January 27th. at the Unity of Charlottesville Ballroom on Hydraulic Road. General dancing will feature breaks for performances of ballroom, Latin, nightclub, and swing dance. Beginners are welcome and no partner is needed. The event runs from 7 to 10 pm.
